Veteran Nigerian actress, Kate Henshaw, was left speechless after receiving an audacious request from a fan who slid into her direct messages (DM) asking for a staggering sum of N35 million. The request, which took place on September 13, 2024, prompted the actress to express her disbelief publicly on her social media page.

In a post shared on her X (formerly Twitter) account, Henshaw questioned the logic behind such a bold demand. She wrote, “How do you send a DM to someone and ask for N35 million? How? Why? If you can’t afford what you want, why not wait till you can or defer until you’ve saved enough? Stop it! Just stop!!” Her message reflected frustration with the increasing trend of fans making huge financial demands on celebrities.
As expected, the post sparked a flurry of reactions from her followers, with many echoing her sentiments. One fan humorously remarked, “Aunty Katie, please run from such requests oh. Some people will invest heavily in stocks and then beg till the returns come in, but they won’t remember you when they cash out!” Another simply commented, “N35 million? Nah! That’s crazy.”
JamTide.com also learned that this isn’t an isolated incident. Several other celebrities have voiced concerns about similar situations. Nollywood actor Chinedu Ikedieze, popularly known as Aki, previously addressed the issue, stating that fans often expect wealthy public figures to solve their financial problems, but it’s not realistic to expect them to cater to everyone’s needs, especially in tough economic times.
While it’s common for fans to reach out to celebrities for support, Henshaw’s post sheds light on how overwhelming and, at times, unreasonable these requests can be. The actress’s firm response makes it clear that even public figures have their limits when it comes to such demands.
